The Proposed CENTRAL BUSINESS of Dasol
In year 2000, when the municipality made the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, we come up with a vision to be first class tourist destination someday. Last August 2010 we revisited our plan and agreed to adopt the same vision. And last October 2010 when the chief executive called the stakeholders for tourism for a workshop, again they came up with the same vision: “Dasol is a first class tourist destination. Supportive to a sustainable agro-industrial economy and ecologically balanced environment, with God-fearing, peace-loving and united community by 2020.” But data reveals that we encounter problems why we couldn’t realize our zealous vision. At present, Dasol has 30,000 individuals more or less but still shows we have a low population. Each one of us has at least half hectare of land to cultivate, can a single individual make it productive? I’m sure not. With this, we are encountering a slow economic phase. As of today, even a small sari-sari store almost doesn’t survive because of our low population. Another problem is that we really lack economic magnet to attract investors to come. But in e
very problem there’s a solution, so we come up with strategies so that we could bridge the gap from our present situation to our vision comes 2020. The strategies go with an acronym “DDDAD”. The First “D” stands for
“Dasol Cares” which aims to let the whole world know that our town exists and we have a great tourism and investment potentials. Second “D” is for “Dasol Festivals” which means that we really have to conduct Festivals in Dasol so that people will come not just to witness our feasts but also to spend money here in Dasol. The next “D” is “Dive Dasol” wherein we will launch a World Diving Competition to find the US Naval Ship, the Legendary USS Harder, where the record shows that her remains lie here in our bay. This activity will also pop-up economic activity. For the letter “A” means “Adopt Dasol”. In this strategy we will encourage individuals or groups to adopt anything here in Dasol. A good example maybe, is that, if all of us here could adopt one tree let’s say, a mangrove tree, soon it will attract tourists or even more. These trees would defend mankind when a disaster occur like tsunami. These will serve as a natural barrier or break water but we all pray that this should not ever happen here. Lastly the final “D” stands for “Dasol Magnets”. In this strategy, we will create conducive business atmosphere in Dasol so that potential and big ticket investor will not only take a look but will be persuaded to do business in town. And the bottom line of these strategies is that we created a DASOL CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT in which if investors come, we have a planned area where they could put up their business establishment. This is our powerful tool in order for us to realize all we wanted for Dasol. But who will start to use it? Since we are part of this generation, every Dasolinian must take a piece of the cake, do our share and do it now, because if not today, when? Dasol has great potential with its vast water and land resources. We should not let them be useless, let them be the objects of utility because if not, believe me, another 100 years will pass and we will be the same old Dasol!
